I once participated in a small art exchange, and there was one person who made it her mission to comment on every contribution, even those which had nothing to do with her gift or her own contribution. I'm sure it was meant as a nice gesture, but her comments were like this as well. She was so oblivious, it was almost insulting. For example, someone has drawn someone else's OC, who was a demon. She commented with her thoughts on it (positive stuff, from what I remember), and then said something like, "His hands look like claws, but I can't do it any better, so I shouldn't say anything more I guess". The rest of her comments just tended to often have this one weird bit where it was hard to tell if she was rude or oblivious. At some point, I left the community, and one of the reasons was that I didn't want to talk to her anymore.
So, TL;DR: comments are nice, I get it, but good will does not necessarily lead to nice comments, especially if there is a lack of knowledge or subtlety.
