I'm new to the show and I was surprised how much I fell for Goodman and I love the other characters, but his whole depressing problems kept distracting from the humour, plot, and beautiful scenery. I never got the whole 'get into serious debt to have babies' when he hasn't even put a ring on it, and if he wanted to assure Martha he loved her and not the chance to make her be a mother he ought to have suggested they follow through on the engagement and wed. The closing scenes of the show were lovely but I'd have liked to see them get married.
(I also feel sure they'll pull a miracle!baby at some point instead of letting just one infertile couple on tv be happy together without children.)
