I know that all language is arbitrary and is made up and changes over time and evolves new forms and that "kneeled" is technically correct.

But it's fucking "knelt"

I’ve felt that way about so many words, especially words in past tense!

I think 'knelt' sounds better, but for 'creep', sometimes 'creeped' works better than 'crept' because it sounds creepier.

I like 'dreamt', but it feels more ephemeral to me than 'dreamed', so which one I use depends on the situation.

I tend to go for 'spelled' just because I'm more accustomed to it, but I don't mind 'spelt'.

I don't really like 'spilt', not sure why, maybe because it's so easy to read as 'split'.

The problem with creep is that it's actually two different words:

He creeped me out.

He crept along the sidewalk.

He creeped along the sidewalk makes me think "he was being a creepy douche down the sidewalk", not "he was trying to be stealthy".
