It sucks to feel like you're on the defensive about something you like. The best way I've found is to just side step it. Usually I'm the one who viscerally hates something everyone else in the room likes so I've gotten better about just going "That wasn't really for me" and then quietly making a f!secret about it.

But also? I drop shows/movies/books/series/whatever the second I lose interest. I can always re-read a discworld novel so my time may not be "valuable" but I could be useing it better than hate watching the new Velma cartoon or a Marvel movie I already don't care about. I'm too tired to hate watch.
