Eh, B can headcanon whatever she wants. Sure, there are people who hide behind the term "headcanon" when what they really mean is "I don't like this specific detail so I'm just going to ignore it in favor of what I believe should be, basis in canon be damned." But as long as they're not harassing the creator or other fans for not conforming to that headcanon, I just pretend I didn't see it.

Ugh, Team A. Person B is skeeving me out bigtime, there really is no reason to not just keep it to yourself-- like, the way this is worded, this isn't a 'fandom', it's one guy's OCs? She's not starting beef with like... a TV creator?

Like, it smells like homophobia, and there's no reason she has to be loud about it.

That's what I was thinking... if it was a tv/book/etc. fandom where there is reasonable distance from the creator, then there's lots of people involved in some capacity, and room for all kinds of headcanons (even the ones that kind of feel like erasure) and it probably wouldn't get back to the people in charge anyway, so not really a big deal.

If it's just a guy who is doing his own thing though, who has time to interact with people about his characters? Sigh.

Yeah, this bugs me specifically because A seems to be another fan who B knows personally. I wouldn't care if A was like, Neil Gaiman or someone.

... I've never heard characters referred to as "OCs" outside of amateur contexts, what's up with that?

Yep, this is also the main thing for me. I think having/telling people about your headcanons about THEIR OCs is some weird boundary-crossing. Kinda the same level like when people "kin" other people's OCs. Like, nah, stop that.

It's either that or person B is so damn stupid the options of 1. keeping it in their head, 2. talking about it in their own space, or 3. finding a more likely to be receptive person really didn't occur to them at all.

I need a lot more context here. Based purely on the insufficient context we have, B is right, she can headcanon whatever she wants.

If B kept on bringing up her headcanons in A's space (like the comment section of his fics, or his askbox, or tagging him in her posts about his fem!OCs) then that's a bit socially obnoxious, and IMO it would be completely fair of A to ask her to stop doing that. But if she wasn't actually pushing her headcanons at him, then A should've just ignored it.

And if A's response was hostile and accusative, I don't think that was justified unless he'd already asked her to please stop involving him in her headcanons and she had ignored his request.
