I can go on Google and search for anti-Spike takes too, but guess what, Maaan? I would have to search for it. It won't randomly pop up on my dash and fyp unbidden the way Xanderslander constantly does.

Not a day has passed when I'm on Tumblr, reddit, TikTok, or Twitter and a video or post that had nothing to do with Xander didn't end up being about hating Xander:

Let's talk about Willow's abuse of magic!
"Yeah, but isn't Xander too possessive of the women in his life?"

Oh! How awful! Spike tried to rape Buffy!

This is what it's like all the goddamn time! I have never, ever seen Spike or any other Buffy character get shit on as often and out of pocket as Xander does. It's like people have a physical need to bash Xander anytime Buffy the Vampire Slayer is mentioned. It's a fucking mantra to these people!

It wouldn't piss me off so much if they'd take a fucking day off every once and a while, but no, they literally can't stop!

He's alright for the most part.

Willow is who I identified with, I liked computers and learning, and it's unfortunate that happens in schools filled with jerks. Giles is the mentor I wished I had, and Buffy is legit one of my favorite fictional heroes of all time.

Xander was funny and had a weird sense of humor, which I liked, but I didn't like his crush on Buffy. Willow was right there! And I thought the crush was too cliche to be interesting. In fact, it was boring as fuck. Hard pass.

Like I said before, Xander is my least favorite Scooby, and I could vibe with a lot of the complaints some fans had about him... in the beginning. Then as the years passed, and fandom became more divided, the vitriol got worse and worse. Until here we are today, and I can't watch a single goddamn Buffy TikTok without people spending thirty to ninety seconds shitting on Xander over the pettiest of shit. Over and over and over...

I don't bother with r/buffy because I already know day after day someone's going to derail a post that has nothing to do with Xander to shit on Xander. And they won't stop. And the moderators don't do anything when those people attack anyone who defends Xander, because nine times out of ten the mods are anti-Xander too.

I just want it to stop, or at least fucking chill for five fucking minutes. But it won't because these people have made it their mission to let everyone know what a piece of shit misogynist, abusive, incel Xander is. Because OMG! People need to know Xander is shit! Every. Fucking. Day!

Spike will never reach that level of being shat on. No other Buffy character will. Never.

Xander bashing is worse than Spike bashing, which barely exists in the natural world. It's offensive anyone thinks it's even close or matters. Because this is my glass of wine. This is my therapy. I've had to play nice with Xander bashers for years, and now I have an opportunity to cut loose, so I'm taking it.

DA I just want you to know, I've seen the Xanderslander and it IS exhausting. It IS everywhere, and I'm not as deeply in the fandom as you are. But I do still like Xander--I've just...ignored it, I guess? It's clearly looking back with some kind of lens, and I couldn't be bothered to care.

Like I've said before: I don't need back-up. I've had years of experience dealing with Xanderslander by myself as one of the few a fanfic writers and Buffy fans who doesn't hate any of the characters and actually loves all of them. It's made me militant when it comes to the more intolerant wings of fandom, and their shitty, "Gotta let everyone know this character sucks," bashing.

I think you should stop being in this fandom if it hurts you so much. Read fics in peace or something. Block all the tags if you must. Because you are not being healthy with your hobby right now. I know we are on F!S but this is an old frankly not that good show about teenage vampire killer, it's not life or death situation.

Also I said that you can go to anti Spike tag because you accused people of not providing you with links. I did provide. You are moving goalposts.

Bullshit.

Xanderslander is in vogue and has been for forever. It's inescapable. I can't even watch the Xander tag on Tumblr in peace, where I have posted fanfic, because I know I'll be hit with constant Xander bashing. And I can't block the Xanderslander tag on TikTok. I have to look for those videos and manually block every creator who makes them. Which means any I miss will randomly show up on my fyp because I searched for Xanderslander videos.

And speaking of writing fanfic. I write fanfic about a lot of characters, including Xander, and I've had reviewers complain about my fic when I update because it forces them to see fic about Xander. What the fuck?

I will not be run out of a fandom I've been in for twenty years. I won't stay silent anymore. I'm here, and I'm going to call out bullshit when I see bullshit!
