Secret Image Links

Today for the first time, I couldn't see *any* image. A right-click, open image in new tab showed me a 'imgur can't display this because the image has errors' message.

I turned off my VPN and then there the images were, so...I dunno.

Yeah I saw a few threads on other sites discussing imgur in general and it seems there is a mystery glitch where if you have a VPN imgur won't work. Not sure why.

It's very strange because there was very rarely an issue with it before. I'm wondering if they're getting a bunch of traffic from various people (on VPN or just other parts of the world) trying to download all the porn before it gets scrubbed from the site. Could they be blocking VPNs, and for that reason?

I've had a VPN for almost a year, and this is the first time. So weird.

I was one of the first (possibly the first) anons for whom it stopped working, and I don't even have a VPN, so I have no clue what was up with that. It worked on my phone, though, just not on my laptop. Super weird. It started working again after a couple of days, though, so if you try to fix it and can't, don't despair because it may well fix itself on its own. (Still hella weird and annoying tho.)

Even before this current issue, I occasionally had trouble with imgur if I was using a VPN. Sometimes the front page refuses to load at all, sometimes it'll load but I get errors when I try to upload an image, etc. The problem goes away if I disable my VPN, or sometimes change to another server fixes it, but it's never consistent. But now, the issues are a lot more persistent with images on FS not loading at all. That's never happened before.

Opposite; I had this problem yesterday but today the pictures are back. Imgur going on the fritz sure is weird.

They are probably trying to something daft like force everyone to use their own IP address so they can have better user data to sell. It is probably deliberate trying to force everyone to turn off their VPNs. Same as like ho Youtube is trying to force people to turn off adblockers.
