Better than Godzilla 99? That's crazy talk

(Anonymous) 2023-05-18 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, that one was a real stinker.

(Anonymous) 2023-05-18 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I was about to mention that one lol

Ngl I loved that one, but that's probably because it was one of the only movies I owned when I was a kid. Remember the animated show? Oh boy.

(Anonymous) 2023-05-18 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
I love that one too. It was fun in a so bad it’s good way imo.

You mean the 1998 one with Matthew Broderick, not Godzilla 2000, right?

(Anonymous) 2023-05-18 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
98, yeah.

Also, I said "better" when clearly I meant "worse".

It's been a long day, man.

Yeah, I thought that you probably meant the 1998 movie was worse (because I've seen it and agree, it was awful), but I thought I would make sure.

Godzilla '98 is pure cheese and not good, but I can watch it anytime, from start to finish with no problem.

Godzilla 2014 is objectively a better film, but it can be a chore to sit through, and when I try, I want to skip to the good parts more often than not.

At least you can see what is happening in that movie, and they never let you forget the Kaiju is there for most of the movie. And they didn't kill their best actor off at the start to follow a box of woodshavings in human form. I'm not gonna argue it is a good movie, it is down there with the one that all happens in the Kenny's imagination, but the Chinzilla movie is still a better movie and better Kaiju movie that 2014.

I remember coming out of this movie so disappointed and annoyed. I know monster movies will have some human drama in them, but this one had too much and too little monster-action.

Plus this series of monster movies take themselves WAY too seriously imo. I liked King of the Monsters more and actually had fun in that one, but someone needs to tell the script-writer of these films that this genre isn't some High Drama fare, it's dumb-shit and the characters should be echoing that. Srs TM doesn't work for monster-smash shenanigans.

True, but: Ken Watanabe <3

We could have had Watanabi and Cranston, but for some bizarre reason they killed Cranston's character to follow generic soldier guy #9 for the rest of the movie.

this was me after seeing what they did to bryan cranston in the first 15 minutes
