My grandma refuses to fly anywhere, because she thinks she's going to crash and die. Before I really understood about phobias, I tried to reassure her by using statistics that flying was MUCH safer than driving. I don't think she's ever left the state; she's never going to come visit me. :(

I HATE this fucking statistic thing. Blah blah planes are safer blah blah. Not only it never had helped with a phobia but I also am scared of cars now. I get new vehicle anxiety every fucking day. I still use transport of course including planes but it's an everyday battle.

I am sorry about your grandmother though, it sucks :(

Given my biggest fear isn't the plane crashing but the plane flipping, this stat doesn't actually help me.
