I prefer physical cookbooks, or at least hard copies of online recipes, if only for the reason that I've had waaaaay too many sites and recipes I liked change their URLs to something I can't find again, or just disappear entirely.

Plus I have severe (and supposedly 'uncommon') food allergies that mean I have to make almost everything from scratch, and I mean EVERYTHING, even sauces and spice mixes and flour mixes and yeah buying premade things basically doesn't happen. So much easier to have all the recipes for everything I need literally at hand instead of having to hunt around online for recipes that don't exist outside of old messageboards that you can't access unless you're a member...

I've gotten into doing two things that help with this. One, I have a folder on my computer where I write down things I made that turned out the way I like them. Two, I set up a sideblog on Dreamwidth where I post recipes, along with some other family members. Very no-nonsense and bare bones, but very functional. And that way, none of us lose our stuff when a site we got recipes from disappears.

If there were a general comm on Dreamwidth for that purpose, run by people who kept drama to a minimum, I'd probably contribute to it, but I don't know of any such thing. And I don't really have the bandwidth to moderate something like that right now.

This is where you just do "Save to PDF" to make a digital copy of all of the recipes you like.
