Seconding this perspective. Back when I was in college, I had the time and my group of friends had the collective resources to handmake costumes, and we made some FANTASTIC ones, but these days? Lol no, I have to buy it or /maybe/ closet-cosplay if I want to have that fun experience of "inhabiting" the character for a day.
