I personally don't mind the build-up to Godzilla in this movie because it does work, my issue is that after the first reveal G barely turns up and the movie cuts away not just once, not twice, THREE times from monster fights to focus on the incredibly bland army characters and that I couldn't forgive. I still rank it lower than the '98 movie simply because that one is bad and dumb but at least it has the monster IN it. Also I find the characters entertaining if very tropey, but I'll take that over bland shlock.

This is speaking as someone who would be 100% fine with black Cleopatra in fiction or whatever.

I would give it a pass if they commissioned or bought every part of their costume, but they were also the ones that custom designed at least some the things that other people produced and also were the ones that sourced things and put it all together. Design and arrangement and having an eye for what pieces look fitting or authentic together are skills; it's what costume designers do.

But I agree if someone bought a wholly premade mass produced costume off the rack and did nothing to it though, I wouldn't call that cosplay. I don't consider off the rack Halloween costumes as cosplay either for the same reason

I like costumes. I like supporting creators. I can't create or sew worth a fuck. I will buy my costumes and enjoy the hell out of them at every chance I get!

I feel like Inside Out finished off the “diametric opposites on a wacky adventure” formula as used in modern kids’ movies. I mean, you can’t get more opposite than Happiness and Sadness.

They lost me when they killed Cranston's character off. They had Bryan freakin' Cranston and casually offed his character. That told me all I needed to know about Edwards' directorial competence.

If it was about Lug and Anode, I would be on it on a HEARTBEAT! But... I haven't really hearn anything about them, so... :(

(But hey, fun fact, Lug and Anode get a shout-out in the Transformers TTRPG that lauched recently, with Lug being called Anode's spouse. It's a very small shout-out, but it made me happy.)
