Your oldest fandom/fic that you still revisit?

(Anonymous) 2023-05-28 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The seaQuest secret a few days ago got me thinking - what's the oldest fandom that you read fic for or participated in that you still revisit?

I have some old fandoms that I don't even think about anymore and then ones that the love never truly goes away. I think seaQuest is probably one of the oldest for me. There are a couple of fic (Outriggers, for those in the know) that I'll revisit every couple of years or so and still thoroughly enjoy.

Link drop if you've got 'em! (I have all my sQ saved on an old hard drive.)

Flight of the Heron by DK Broster. I'm still writing for it. Other people have started writing for it in the last few years, which is great (and they're all good, too! Magnifique!)

Star Wars. My two oldest fandoms are Star Wars and Harry Potter, but I'm out of the Potter fandom and haven't read a fic in ages.

Supernatual. I got annoyed with the show and stopped watching after season 7 but I still get in the mood occasionally to revisit fic.

Awww. Phandom was my first online fandom, although I don't have the guts to revisit because I'm afraid of getting sucked back into it, lol.

Recently I looked up some X-Files fics I first read 20+ years ago. Still online and still as good as I remember!

I wish I could re-read some of the really old stuff, but it was all on mailing lists or individual fansites (because I'm old) and I never saved anything. I don't even know if some of the fic would even be online anywhere. I did track down an old 90s X-Men fic a few years ago and had a good laugh.

It's not my oldest fandom in terms of how many years old it is, but I've been in the Psych fandom since 2006 and I still read and reread fics of my OTP in the fandom as recently as last night.

Harry Potter is my oldest fandom since I discovered online fandoms.
As for stuff i was a fan of but didn't necessarily participate in (just read sometimes) - that's OLDER than my online life....Brideshead Revisited and The Secret Garden.

Final Fantasy 4 is probably the oldest one I still occasionally read/write. My fandom for that pre-dates regular folks having internet access. XD

My oldest fandom I still write in is 136 years old.

That's not the one I've been in the longest though. That one is a little baby fandom that's only 86 years old.

Trigun. I do not care about the reboot at all, but at least it has led people to discover the manga/90s anime and there is new stuff of those too.
