I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I'm a straight girl, and I prefer drawing women to men. I find them more fun to draw, personally, because curvy lines > angular lines, and they can be just beautiful.

On the other hand, I sympathize, because I sometimes wonder if people get the wrong idea, and it's very sad that because of our culture, there's a very hard line to walk between appreciating and celebrating beauty, and objectifying it.

I second this. Womanly curves just entice art more than the male figure does. Also, the line between appreciating beauty and objectifying it is sometimes difficult to draw, which is a pity.

I think that if a random person were to look at my notebooks and see all the women I drew, he or she would probably think I was a lesbian. After all, why else would you draw pretty women, unless you want to, as the phrase goes, hit that? Silly, really. Anyway, beautiful women = high aesthetic value.

I've always thought (generalised, I guess) that girls in general tend to start off drawing other girls more because it has a familiarity value to it and when you start out, you draw what you know and can visualise easiest. I remember always being more comfortable drawing female life drawing models because I understood/could easily imagine the way thighs/bellies/breasts sit because well, like other women, I've seen my own numerous times.

Obviously people progress and once you get a larger range of skills and knowledge, you can pick your own personal preferences, but I wouldn't ever assume that a girl who routinely draws other women is interested in them sexually. There are just some forms each person is comfortable with - be it male/female/landscapes etc.

Also, I'd disagree that womanly curves entice more art than the male figure in terms of art, in general. Like, think of all those pretty classical statues of Ancient Greek and Roman Gods/youths/heroes. Or Caravaggio! I do agree though, that over time, the female figure has gained dominance as the default artistic subject of beauty, but not through any intrinsic aesthetic merit; it's just a societal preference, really. :D

Me, too. I find the female body to be more beautiful and ah, what's the word, conducive to art than the male. But I'm a straight girl, and I find men's bodies sexy. *shrug*
