look reimage greek or roman myth all you want. it's fun, it's free, it's very much a foundation of western imagination.

but i do not believe any of the recent authors doing "progressive" imaginations have read even a translation of the greek or roman sources of the myths. i don't believe they have could distinguish hesiod from ovid, i don't care what they say. that one author definitely admitted it, but i don't believe any of the others have any knowledge either.

(not about madeleine miller, whose writing i do not like but at least knows her shit)
