Okay, yeah, if the film makers you're referring to are the ones to have removed that crucial scene or at least had some control over approving the film with it cut, and then they constantly cite that scene, that is very annoying. And also makes me think they aren't that great at filmmaking.

If they didn't remove the scene, have final cut, or have final approval (not all exactly the same thing), I can understand why they might constantly cite that scene. I would be upset about a crucial scene's removal, especially if the film wasn't as well received as expected, and want audiences to know that it wasn't my fault and that the film isn't what I intended, that it could have been much better.
