Earliest Song/Singer or Band You Remember Hearing?

(Anonymous) 2023-06-16 02:24 am (UTC)(link)The radio station is called Magic and usually plays old music mixed with the occasional new songs. I remember being so obsessed with the song 'You Gotta Be' by Des'ree and got so excited whenever it played on the radio as a little kid. The station also used to play a lot of Queen and Abba songs too that I remember the most (especially A Kind of Magic by Queen because that would sometimes be the radio's advertising tune because of the Magic part).
With the car driving music it was usually Blondie, Meatloaf or Madness (pretty sure Blondie's 'Picture This' was the one I used to try to sing along to as an annoying child lol).

Oh, and also, he used to sing in the Boston Pops. So I remember going to their concerts. My favorites were the summer ones at Tanglewood because we'd go and stay for a long weekend. And we'd always stop at friendlies and get chocolate shakes on the drive up. And there would always be a pops concert where they'd do soundtrack-type things like Star Wars music.

Then I didn't hear any of his stuff for like ten years until I had a friend who was really into him and wound up listening to it again a lot, and I realized it really was that good.

My father was a big fan. They were the first songs I learned to sing along to.
