How is the weather where you are?


We've got a temperature of 98 and a heat index of 115. I actually got heat exhaustion earlier due to having to be outside for an hour in this weather.

We're getting record breaking low temps for this time of year. We're also getting hail, thunderstorms, and funnel clouds today. This in the PNW, not the plain states!

Fine today but very hot. Bad storms came thru on Saturday. My sister is in Tulsa and has not had power (or phone service) since Saturday. They got 100mph winds.

That's summer weather for my area but we've had an unusually cool Spring and true Summer hasn't hit yet. I am not really looking forward to it as my job has me outside every day. We just had some good thunderstorms which are always fun (as long as they don't turn into tornadoes or severe storms) and my gardens definitely needed the rain!

Currently 86°F (30°C), with heat index of 87. My house is cool, though (77) because i run my attic fan at night when it gets down in the sixties and shut everything down in the day, so it works for me.

I'm sorry you got heat exhaustion! That sucks. Take care of yourself.

mid-upper 80s and sunny. Very nice except... it was like this for like a month with no rain. Then it was overcast and sprinkled a little this last weekend. Not nearly enough rain, and now we're right back on this?

I'm in Vancouver and it's cold and drab. Where is the summer at? Can it hurry up and get here, please? I feel incredibly teased, because we had a short heatwave like two months ago that had me primed for a glorious summer, but since then it's been mostly sucky.

For a long time my favorite inspirational character was Gabrielle from Xena. Just a normal girl who took off on adventure and learned skills along the way and became awesome.

Teaser trailer and pictures for live action ATLA. I'm still nervous given that the original creators left. But damn it, I'm also really excited. Really, really excited.

New trailer for Dune 2. Positive reviews for Indy 5.

So exciting when they get things right! I'm not a fan of One Piece but I'm excited for you!

Not really exciting, but after it rained it was perfect weather for weeding the garden. I've put it off because I hate weeding in the front yard (it's a busy street and people talk to me and it's awkward) but I managed to get 90% of the dumb grass out of my gardens and they look so good! I just stood there smiling at a job well done and a happy clean looking garden.

Tumblr and attraction to men?

Every time I go on tumblr, I'm struck by how little I'm interested in men compared to other women.

I definitely am interested in them. I even married one. But my gods! Some days it seems my entire feed is thirst, and women forgiving men every little thing. A male character can commit the most heinous of crimes, and if he's even just slightly physically attractive, there will be long treatises excusing said crimes, and lambasting any characters (particularly female ones!) who dare to say, "your behavior is troublesome."

I come away feeling like I just can't relate to any of these people. Whether a male character is physically attractive has absolutely no bearing on how I feel about him, and I'm more likely to "side" with female characters. I find that I completely disagree with the common criticism that female characters are poorly written; in fact, in my experience, the best written ones are the ones most likely to be hated, because they push back against the male characters.

I'm not really sure where this is going. I think mainly I've been realizing that my attraction to men is super muted compared to other women, because the only way I can explain what I see is that, when they've got the hots for a dude, they go blind to his faults, and dislike anyone who dares to point them out.
