Say it more, some people in the back still are not hearing it though.

Thank god that writers are starting to rediscover the value of filler episodes for character reasons, it has been a long slow realization that not everything has to be about the Big Plot, that characters can take time to kick back, relax, breathe, and let us see who they are when they aren't just all about The Big Plot. It gives a more rounded watching experience.

I'm re-watching older shows for this reason. I want filler episodes for the character moments, no matter how small. They make the characters feel more... I dunno, human?

What shows actually did beach episodes? I know it's a trope but the only thing I can think of witha beach episode is Persona 5.

Avatar: The Last Airbender had one in the last season that as awesome.

Star Trek, they visited the "pleasure planet" Risa a lot.

Some of those episodes were better than others. The DS9 one was bad.

I always thought Raisa should have had everybody partying like Vegas instead of just lounging around like the Eloi in the Time Machine

MASH sort of did one...

It did at least two, although one was more about the bus ride home and aftermath.

The shows that immediately came to mind were Saved by the Bell and Beverly Hills 90210. Friends, The Brady Bunch, and Growing Pains had beach episodes.

It's super common in older anime. ngl not sure if it's still as common but basically all the 90s/early 2000s anime had beach episodes.

I feel like almost every shonen anime has had this. Pokemon for sure I remember as a kid. Did Bleach? Inuyasha? I'm trying to remember now lol.

Yes, please. Specifically beach-filler. Even in scifi.

I only like them as long as there's something that actually ties them into the plot, like I remember Guilty Crown doing a beach episode where the latter half of it connected directly to the main plot. Stuff like that is cool.

I couldn't agree more! I especially love Azumanga Daioh's beach episodes in particular.

I know its an old series now, but I'm giggling to myself trying to imagine Death Note having a beach episode.
