IDK. Maybe not some of the fan writers, but I have to think most of the pro writers doing this stuff have looked at the original sources to some degree. There are a lot of people out there who like reading mythology!

Myths are collective stories that are constantly changing. There's no point in considering written versions (e.g., Ovid) more authoritative than anything else. Complaining that someone wrote a story about mythological characters without reading the written sources is like complaining that someone wrote a story based on content from Twitter without reading a couple of books about Twitter published in 2009.

Amethyst Marie has clearly read some myths. Almost every god does something shitty at one point, and it all ties back to what they’ve learned from Zeus and the twisted rules he enforces. They aren’t really evil except for Zeus himself. They’re just flawed.

Thank god that writers are starting to rediscover the value of filler episodes for character reasons, it has been a long slow realization that not everything has to be about the Big Plot, that characters can take time to kick back, relax, breathe, and let us see who they are when they aren't just all about The Big Plot. It gives a more rounded watching experience.

I'm re-watching older shows for this reason. I want filler episodes for the character moments, no matter how small. They make the characters feel more... I dunno, human?

What shows actually did beach episodes? I know it's a trope but the only thing I can think of witha beach episode is Persona 5.

I only like them as long as there's something that actually ties them into the plot, like I remember Guilty Crown doing a beach episode where the latter half of it connected directly to the main plot. Stuff like that is cool.

I really loved her. The writing struggled but she was never less than wonderful imo. But I also stopped watching due to real life stuff and haven't been back. But my not going back is more apathy to all things I once loved. I hope you can get back to it and enjoy it before the special!

I'll be honest, I never got a found family vibe from them. Unless the family is really dysfunctional.

Mal didn't seem to respect or really care for half of the people on his ship, Jayne barely seemed to respect Mal, never mind the rest.

For the others I could see it, but with how actively antagonistic Mal is towards some, and his lack of respect for others (INARA), found family is just not the vibe I'm getting from Firefly. And I freaking love found family as a trope and actually wanted Firefly to be that :/

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and I'll try my best to use an appropriate image choice.

Just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made. I'll monitor this thread until tomorrow's secret post goes up, so feel free to leave your comments until then!
