Thank god that writers are starting to rediscover the value of filler episodes for character reasons, it has been a long slow realization that not everything has to be about the Big Plot, that characters can take time to kick back, relax, breathe, and let us see who they are when they aren't just all about The Big Plot. It gives a more rounded watching experience.

I'm re-watching older shows for this reason. I want filler episodes for the character moments, no matter how small. They make the characters feel more... I dunno, human?

IDK. Maybe not some of the fan writers, but I have to think most of the pro writers doing this stuff have looked at the original sources to some degree. There are a lot of people out there who like reading mythology!

I'll be honest, I never got a found family vibe from them. Unless the family is really dysfunctional.

Mal didn't seem to respect or really care for half of the people on his ship, Jayne barely seemed to respect Mal, never mind the rest.

For the others I could see it, but with how actively antagonistic Mal is towards some, and his lack of respect for others (INARA), found family is just not the vibe I'm getting from Firefly. And I freaking love found family as a trope and actually wanted Firefly to be that :/

How are these two related? I only watched like one season of Voltron and have no clue how he relates to Superman.
