I don't really have an icky association with the word. To me, it's always sounded like "This is what your random fantasy/anime/video game/sci-fi/etc. character sounds like to me when you tag them on my posts when I have no idea who that is." For example, many Lord of the Rings character names have a "Blorbo"ish feel to them.
