Honestly either way I hate it. I haven't seen a fandom term/concept that I automatically hate so much in many years, so congrats on that fandom!

I miss self-insert fics in general. Not that I read many of them, but I do enjoy writing them and sometimes I feel "cringe" for writing something everyone else kind of frowns upon.

Not that self-insert hate is anything new, I just wish certain fandoms of mine were more tolerant of it.

So I have a 10hour (fingers crossed that's all it is) solo drive coming up and I thought I'd try out some audiobooks or podcasts. I'm not usually a listener as my attention span wanders when I've tried them previously but I thought a drive would be a good way to try again.

Any topic or genre! Just as long as you found it super engaging the best of the best "even people who don't like audiobooks/podcasts would be into this" type of thing.

I don't miss them, but I get it. I definitely went through that phase where every fic I wrote was a thinly veiled self insert fic. Sometimes not even veiled, just blatant out there self insert. I have a weird mix of embarrassment and fondness thinking back on those stories.

I love this. The joy you get, the no fucks given, and the pretentiousness. Yeah it's a bit of an asshole attitude but there's also something really lovely about it. Keep on being you and doing what brings you joy.

Write for the Tolkien fandom. It would be really appropriate for his works for fanfic authors to have fun with words. And I'm pretty sure the fandom would love it.

I find 372 pages we'll never get back hilarious. It's done by Mike Nelson and another guy and it's basically MST3K/Rifftrax only for books instead of movies, and you don't even have to have read the books.
