JC is so popular that fans who like and enjoy the less savory and more grey aspects of the character had to create their own tag on tumblr to use because they weren't welcome in his main tag. And now there's a fight over that tag too. JC/LXC has more fic on AO3 than LXC/JGY and I can't recall a single instance of them interacting one on one. This idea that JC and his fans are hated is so wild when in terms of popularity, JC is easily top 5. Hell, I'd argue top 3 after WWX and LWJ.

CQL!JC is my favorite character. Him being a minor protagonist and a minor antagonist is super interesting and I'd LOVE more of him and his fucked-up perspective and unhealthy coping mechanisms. I've always wanted to see him after the end of the story, and how making peace with WWX and leaving him and everything that happened in the past behind him affects him moving forward. But not if it's going to be the CQL woobie meow meow version of him that the fandom has created.
