I recall being like a sophomore or junior in high school and reading them, thinking they were funny when a LOTR fansite shared links to the Fellowship's Secret Diaries.

Jumpcut to me in my mid-20s, feeling grateful that as big of a HP fan as I was I didn't get involved in the fandom because apparently there's a BNF who's an actual published author now and she had a very shitty rep as a HP BNF...and apparently she's the author of those LOTR Bridget Jones' Diary parody fics.

As someone with no personal attachment to Cassandra Clair nor was I ever in any fandoms she was in/my fandom spaces were never affected by her...it's been super interesting to see the whole discourse around her and her career (as both a BNF in a huge fandom and a fanfic writer who became a successful published author).

I respect that she has the talent and drive to garner a dedicated fan following and a rather successful career, but holy shit, it's...wild the sort of reputation she has regarding those who hate on her or criticize her. Because it's not like she doesn't deserve some of the negativity directed towards her.

Like, I think back to fandom dramas I actually witnessed/lived through and to have your fandom BNF life be well known/attached to your very public career...damn, I really don't know if I could ever live life easily/comfortably/with enthusiasm.

She's an ok human being. Idk why OP hates on her. I think it could be jealousy or fat phobia. One of the two.

Anyway, I also liked those. Legolass: my hair brush broke. Boromir: I'm still not a king. There was something about carrots and hobbit I think. I don't remember the ships tho besides Frodo/Sam.

I probably have come across one or two of those fake musicians/producers, but I tend to click away from those who don't have anything to add.

My "go to" is Tank the Tech because he does have stuff to add and insights, being that he is an actual guitar tech/roadie.

If this is about cdramas, then it's apples and oranges. People aren't complaining about cdrama leads portrayed as child-like as part of their character development arc, they're complaining about a rather sexist, one-note stereotype that plagues female characters in cdramas, period, with not much diversity or range in female characters in general. Context matters.

I wouldn't complain if it was a childish female lead playing zoom zoom with her toy ship. I WOULD complain if the entirety of Luke Skywalker's character was to speak in a high pitched voice and whine and pout and demand his love interests' attention and this was meant to be attractive.

It's what the childishness is supposed to convey. Women are made childish in a specific way that is supposed to be able to let the man be smarter and in charge. Men are made childish to give them character growth into Men (TM).

I would read/watch that, OP. I'd honestly love a fanfic that gave JC's perspective during the events of MDZS/The Untamed, especially if it had more firsthand accounts of the Sunshot campaign that just gets skimmed over in canon. I'd also like fic that showed us what happened after the story ended because I'd really like him and Wei Wuxian to reconcile, but in a way that's in-character and makes sense for both of them.
