1. Furthermore, I think most people are put off by the X-Box's lack of LAWLZOMGBISHIE!!!oneoneone! rpgs. The only rpgs I can think of are Knights of the Old Republic, KOTORII: The Sith Lords, Fable (And The Lost Chapters), Jade Empire, the Elder Scrolls games, and Morrowind.

I'm right at home with FPSs, I can't stand most all RPGs for the PS2. I can't think of any PS2 RPG that doesn't involve LAWLZOMGBISHIES!!!oneoneone! trying to save the world.

O RLY? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those have a very noticable anime feel to them?

[identity profile] zhoutaisdayoff.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I seen Disgaea stuff. Too 'cartoony' for my tastes.

There maybe -FEW- exceptions to the rule, but in the grand scheme of things, nearly all PS2 RPG games are nothing more than plotless eye candy.

Whoever that is, I would hit it with the mighty fist on an angry god!

Oooh nice.

[identity profile] shigishigi.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry to interrupt, but Suikoden V is a really, really bad example of a game without pretty men off to save the world from the forces of darkness. Protagonist could put all the women in the game, and all the women from the previous incarnations, to shame.

[identity profile] shigishigi.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ferid is still the sexiest piece of ass in the entire game and I'm sure her royal highness forced him to take it up the butt because he's got no political power whatsoever. Poor person with penis.

SuikoV only needed Faroush (I swear, that name gets fruitier everytime I say it) to fill their transsexual quota for the next 3 games.

And it was the very first Suikoden that didn't give me my precious minor shota characters. I kept on praying to some true rune or other to make Subala shota or something.

Hotness skips a generation?

[identity profile] fuckyeah.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Word. I don't know, it just seems that as the Sony churns out crappier and crappier games or ones that seem more cookie cutter, I find myself straying away and looking towards the X-Box platform. Whenever I have an rp fix, I don't pop in Final Fantasy (I could never get completely into those anyways), but put in some good Elderscrolls, currently Oblivion. Mmm, I'd rather be whacking down Spider daedra then watching cut scenes with adrogynous pretty boys any day.

[identity profile] fuckyeah.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I know! I still have a fondness for rpgs other than Final Fantasy (ones I could actually get into and finish, always a plus XD;;) but what I said still holds true; I would rather play Elderscrolls than other rpgs that seem to have a more linear story. :|

Not to mention Knights of the Old Republic, it's sequel (The Sith Lords), Fable and Jade Empire, where you -CAN- be evil bastards.

[identity profile] zhoutaisdayoff.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Rogue Galaxy was atrocious. It's only redeeming features were Zegram and Deego. After playing it, I almost thought I -DID- step into an FF game.

Also it had "On fire" as a status ailment 8D

Honestly? I have no problem with the X-Box series. This isn't a "this one's better omggg" kind of thing, but I guess I'm just saying they both have their strong points with me. Just, at the time they came out, the ps2 had more games I was interested in, so that's what I got.

And, I guess I should put this in here, I really don't care much for the FF games either. The only one I actually wanted to play was FFIX, which everyone seems to hate DX Most of the games I play on my PS2 are the old ps1 games ._.;

I'll admit, though, there really are some interesting things with the x-box that tempts me. Like ripping the game soundtracks, some of the games, that kind of thing. If I could actually afford it, I probably would get one.

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Man, fuck people. FFIX is easily the best FF ;[ The close runner-up would be VI, and SURPRISE both of these dealt with heavy, mature themes and character archetyped that weren't yet ridiculously cliched.

[identity profile] some-kat.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
SERIOUSLY. The battle system was actually hard, and not to mention the tallest characters in the game were Freya, Amarant, and Kuja -- a rat character, a guy with no face, and a tranny. When I talk to people, the character designs are their main turn off. They didn't even get three hours into the game before saying, "NO BISHIES. DON'T LIKE IT." Fuckers.

I never got around to playing VI, which almost kills me because I don't have time to play anything nowadays. But, damn, IX...I ...

[identity profile] kuni-izumi.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
o_o I like ALL the FFs (But seven is probably LAST on that list for overkill reasons...that and the main characters didn't do much for me. Red XIII all the way)

I'm working on nine now and about ready to kill myself. I got a perfect on the play fight with Blank on my third try but didn't KNOW to talk to Brahne to get the moonstone and missed out. ;_; Trying to duplicate it has landed me with endless 99s but no 100s

[identity profile] some-kat.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy...As many times as I've played the game, I've never gotten a perfect 100 o__o (and believe me, I've played it a lot in six years) Seriously, good luck, though. I couldn't get myself into VII. Not really sure why, just...meh. I like watching other play, and I like the story, I just can't play it myself.

[identity profile] kuni-izumi.livejournal.com 2007-04-03 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess my preference leans towards VI and VIII, but really I do like them all and for different reasons. III is a lot of fun but I don't play my DS very much so it isn't going anywhere e.e

Uhh...I liked X but was sort of insulted by how EASY it was, but the characters and story was really great and IX and X win for their NOT droopy mopey main characters. It's so nice to not follow around an anti-hero all the time.
