O RLY? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those have a very noticable anime feel to them?

Disgaea - only if you count 12 year olds count as OMGBISHIES.
Dark Cloud 2 - ... not really. Animated, yes, but not anime.

Shadow Hearts I/II definitely don't, Suikoden doesn't really, either, plus Suikoden III has a female lead character (if you choose her to be -- personally I like III the best in the series). All the men in Suikoden are definitely MEN, too.

I seen Disgaea stuff. Too 'cartoony' for my tastes.

There maybe -FEW- exceptions to the rule, but in the grand scheme of things, nearly all PS2 RPG games are nothing more than plotless eye candy.

Only like all XBox games are shoot-em-up plotless FPSes! *dies*

To call Half-Life a plotless FPS is like calling Hiruma a saint.

Same with calling Shadow Hearts plotless and anime.

I'm serious, if you're looking for an RPG, try the Shadow Hearts series (1 or 2, 2 is better). The fighting system is ACTUALLY unique, has combo moves, etc, and the plot is out there--and semi-based on history. And in 2, your characters are a demon possed guy, a kickass girl WHO IS NOT A LOVE INTEREST zOMG, a wolf, an old man, a flaming bodybuilder with a butterfly mask, etc, etc, and IT'S A SERIOUS SEMI-DARK GAME THAT MAKES SENSE. :D

And Hiruma is TOO a saint. Of football!

Sorry to interrupt, but Suikoden V is a really, really bad example of a game without pretty men off to save the world from the forces of darkness. Protagonist could put all the women in the game, and all the women from the previous incarnations, to shame.

Yeah, but he's pretty much the only one. All the other cool ones like Georg, Kyle, ALL THE QUEEN'S KNIGHTS <3, Gizel, Belcoot, Zweig, etc etc, they're all pretty manly in the non-pretty way. Can't think of any other "pretty boys" in Suiko V...

amazingjana named the Prince after herself and then she realized he was a guy and went OH CRAP but was stuck with Prince Jana. *DIES*

Ferid is still the sexiest piece of ass in the entire game and I'm sure her royal highness forced him to take it up the butt because he's got no political power whatsoever. Poor person with penis.

SuikoV only needed Faroush (I swear, that name gets fruitier everytime I say it) to fill their transsexual quota for the next 3 games.

And it was the very first Suikoden that didn't give me my precious minor shota characters. I kept on praying to some true rune or other to make Subala shota or something.
