This goes into something that I think people should think about more:

a) understanding the possible consequences of something does not mean you cannot criticize a specific consequence. this wasn't inevitable at any point, and since it wasn't, you can criticize the people who brought it about.

b) hope/trust is good actually.

c) it's good to see where the line is so you know where to start digging

d) it's a good idea to be public about those companies whom you cannot trust and can expect no hope. it's good for society.

e) bud has an responsibility to mulvaney and it's good to enforce reasonable expectations on entities with power, even if you know they will use their power irresponsibly. they should never be free from the weight of their obligations even when they keep trying to shove them off.
