gotcha, and that makes sense. Oda has more of a plan that we see but it does feel sort of "I'm sorry what now?" when it takes soooo looong to get to the point. I have forgotten so many things and have to go back and re-check often. I was a little surprised by the end of Wano but also relieved because I do not expect this fandom to be cool about a canon transguy.

Totally agree. Even now, a year after the end, dudebros *will* attack artists who use he/him for Yamato. It's so stupid! (Luckily, the queer OP fandom is super cool, at least in my experience.)

I do think Oda has a plan and a lot of quality writing! It's just that there are some points where the lore reveals raise retroactively more questions than answers (and I pay a lot of attention to worldbuilding around the Government and Navy, which is well. Very contingent to what the plot needs at a given moment, lol). But well, it's bound to happen in a canon that goes on for this long.
