I’m sick of the general shaming into donating to GFMs just because someone bought this or has that. I think it perpetuates the idea that poor people don’t deserve nice things until they’re not poor anymore.

Oh man, yes. Just because someone bought themselves one nice thing doesn't mean they have money to throw at a total stranger for a GFM.
