Fandom in general seems to have huge double standards when it comes to anal. It gets treated like the holy grail when it's a cis dude's butt that's being penetrated, but an afab butt being penetrated is treated like some unthinkable degradation. Never mind that there are plenty of cis women and trans people who enjoy it irl.

This is something I haven't come across, maybe because I hardly ever read het, but it sounds really WTF. I enjoy anal IRL, and it's my wife's favorite way to have sex. We're both women, if that ought to be specified. The only reason I haven't tried penis-in-anus with men, so far, is because the specific men in question found that idea uncomfortable. In my book, anyone's allowed to have squicks. But if women and anal is really a general pattern of avoidance in fandom, in fiction ... I can't imagine why. For the curious, coconut oil and cocoa butter both make good lube. Best way to start is with frushly cut and filed fingernails, and washed hands. (Which makes for better sex of all kinds.) About two knuckles in from the ring of muscle in the anus, curve your finger gently in a "come here" gesture, towards the front of the body. Just get yourself worked up and play with that slowly while masturbating whichever way you normally do. It's a different kind of orgasm. And pull the finger out gently when you're done. I think some women also like just circling a finger around the outside of the anus and playing more with touching the muscle, in and out, really shallowly, without making any concerted effort to push in farther. You do not need a prostate to enjoy anal sex. You are better off being gentle, though, because if you're going to have hang-ups about any part of your body being "ugly" and "dirty," this is probably the epitome of it. And, fanfiction tropes aside, the anus is more vulnerable than a vagina, where sex is concerned. Porn stars know what they're doing. Everyone else is advised to use lube and *not* go hard, or fast, or deep, to avoid blood or tearing. At least until you've figured out where your body's at and what it likes.
