They don't want to thwart it, they want to benefit from it. That is the problem.

James II was just catholic, i don't think that puts him much over any of the others. Anyway, I hear more claim that's it's Henry VI, which seems mean, more than John. I'd go for Edward the II for rank stupidity, by pissing off so many people that they let his wife depose him and legit rule. But again John has the same problems...pissing off too many people at the same time.

I think everyone kinda agrees these days that Henry VI had some sort of severe developmental disorder. Like, he was very far down on the spectrum of functionality. I don't think he had much of the capability to be good or bad as King. You need to have that element of ability to choose at a relatively high functioning level before you can be discussed as being good or bad at something.

Worst English monarch though? Why are we avoiding the other, super large, Henry shaped hole in history? No more Henries after him, IYKWIM?

Also, there was this English King who was so bad at kinging they literally called him "The Unready" because he was so bad at it.

I kind of like the like/dislike function on IMDB's trivia pages. You even get to see the number of dislikes each trivia bit has.

I'm kinda in love/like/would like to be the friend of everyone involved in EXU: Calamity. Everything they did in that campaign made everyone involved so hot and interesting and fascinating.

Not their characters, who are also all hot. But the players and Brennan Lee Mulligan.

I've never even felt this way about celebrities.

I love it when youtubers make creative ads for their sponsors. I wish they all did, even though I never buy the promoted stuff.

Admittedly, it does take skill to make that work. I think jacksfilms has pulled this off most successfully, but there are other YouTubers who have done this in convincing fashion.

It breaks my heart that fandom has apparently decided that canon het is the thing that must be protected at all costs.

You know, I've never gotten this crap from a gay man. Not once. It's always insecure straight guys who get all worked up over the fact that women seem to be attracted to something in fantasy that they can't see themselves willingly being a part of. It's a kind of sex that is not "getting them the girl" and not involving girls, and yet paradoxically appealing to so many girls, and it drives them kinda nuts. But I've never seen the existence of slash bother actual gay men at all.

There was one that I really liked in a recent episode of The Harry Gold Show ("Nickelodeon Posted More TERRIBLE Art (So I Fixed It)", if you're curious) - entirely self-animated, and made to look and sound like those retro 50s/60s-era commercials.

Again, nobody ever said they are "the norm". Do you seriously think the majority of white people is paper white? It's irrelevant whether or not the majority in a country/continent isn't pale, doesn't change there are pale people as well.

Not really. You say "pretty well documented" and what you mean is a combination of a very stubborn cabal of dudebros repeating over and over that women like slash because they're "fetishizing gay men" (for reasons that amount to a kneejerk assumption that women read slash for the exact, same reason men watch lesbian porn) and some women in fandom wanting to be able to talk about the fact that het sex is not fun for them to think about. For a LOT of reasons that would be uncomfortably personal, and might have to do with the men in their lives being sexually incompetent at interacting with genitalia that they have no personal experience being able to tell how to pleasure.

I'm not saying this is the whole reason or the only reason, but I certainly am saying that there's the same amount of evidence for it as there is for the theory that you're sure explains the thing.

It is relevant when you're basing this opinion off of racist as shit beauty standards and are acting like this is some progressive take, when it's not, you're being ignorantly racist and orientalist about a culture and people you clearly don't have any knowledge of outside of watching dramas.

And all big movie productions add some sort of beauty filters, what else is new. Guess what, even a white person playing the role also would not have been literally white as snow. Do you actually think non-Chinese movies and shows aren't tweaked? Welcome to Hollywood honey because surprise! Unrealistic beauty standards! Shocker! And that will be the case, especially with a Disney movie, no matter who they cast, so it might as well be an Asian person.

There's a huge doouble-standard here, though, because a lot of romances where the couple are antagonizing each other are basically static. What you see the first time they talk to each other is what you see every time thereafter. The specific thing they're sniping about or blaming their partner for varies, but the dynamic doesn't change at all.

And, despite that, the relationships that writers worry have "no development" and feel like they have to mess with are the ones where the characters seem happy together.

I have to wonder how many of these content creators were abused in that particular, chronic way that makes non-conflict just feel like the calm between storms.

It's not make-or-break for me in the slightest, but lusting over older women can be great, so ... sure.

A Disney movie will have unrealistic beauty standards anyway, whether you like it or not. The fact that plenty of EA productions bleach out skin colours in shows is well known, you're the one assuming I think it's real life. I know it's not, but I also know that there are more than enough EA people who are on the paler side to be fitting for the role and if there will be unrealistic beauty standards (which there inevitably will be) it might just as well be colorist EA ones. That's neither racist nor orientalist. That's just cynicism.
