Just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made. I'll monitor this thread until tomorrow's secret post goes up, so feel free to leave your comments until then!

I have just under 750 icons on my hard drive. All of them since day one of Livejournal. Some were made for me, some were made by me, some were found on icon comms or posts.
I used to curate and switch them around and use them ALL THE TIME. Almost every comment had a different icon to go along with it.
I even remember when you could carry on an entire conversation just by choosing a new icon in your reply.
It was so fucking fun.

Now I'm thinking about just deleting them all, and it makes me really sad, but...it's just not the same, anymore.

I’m not sure I’ve ever wanted a movie to fail as much as I did The Flash. I was surprised but thrilled when it bombed so badly.

But it seems like most of the media outlets I follow have bent over backwards to blame The Flash’s failure on everything but Ezra Miller. Superhero fatigue, movie length, lack of promotion by the film stars…. I don’t get it. Is it that hard to believe that people just might not like Ezra Miller in the role, and/or might not want to support someone with their record of behavior?

Fandom - Smosh Youtube channel

N!S growing up Smosh was never my thing. Weird thing for a nerdy girl who was a teen in 2005-2010 to say but there.
In recent years I have come to love Anthony Padilla and his "own" content. It helped me in a rough period.
And now that Smosh is his again I am happy that he seems happy but also a little worried/conflicted that it might end up overworking or burning him out.

Not a secret: As a trans guy, I enjoy reading the less porny side of omegaverse because there are not a whole lot of other ways to read about men who worry about remembering to take birth control or have to medicate away intense uterine cramps, and also those guys are treated as being normal, if rare, in-universe.

Very much a secret: The fact that you get through a lot of porn to find the less porny side has ABSOLUTELY changed my inner monologue around sex. Lord help me if I ever use the word slick out loud instead of just in my head.

I haven’t watched Ms Marvel, but I did watch the Marvels trailer just today.

I hope I turn out to be wrong, but Kamala is already coming across as nails-on-a-chalkboard annoying. But I am keeping that to myself (except for this secret) for obvious reasons.

On the bright side, Monica and Carol are awesome, so hopefully it will balance out.

So I said this elsewhere but I'll say it here. The thing that pusses me off most about antis is just ...how two faced many of them are . They remind of me of that vicious mean girl type bully who does awful vicious sadistic bullying then when they're called on it , they start that innocent act "but I was only trying to help minors and keep them safe , I just said it made me uncomfy to see and people started attacking me!"

They do this kinda stunt over and over and over and over and it works for people more often than it should, imo

They love to accuse people of things and "call people out" for shit that turns out to be fictional stuff they drew or wrote. Artists have been bullied off Twitter and the culprit goes all "but I'm just 15 why are you all so mad at meeee?".(not that I think they should be bullied but they should understand the weight of what they did better)

Their whole thing is overwhelmingly about harassment and enforcing a set of moral rules about fiction. I hesitated to make this secret because I knew it'd start a shitstorm but I'm just so so tired of the lying and faking and all the bullshit.

And I'm sick of the "both sides-ism." I know some people on either side have been bad but a lot of people trying to speak up against antis just want to be able to write something without horrible accusations and being painted certain ways bc of their fiction interest.

It has come out that he was making racist and homophobic remarks about his co-stars while he was actively playing a gay character on a gay show. This was around the same time that he was apologizing for making rape "jokes" and promising that he had changed. This is his third scandal in a year.

The explanations his fans are making up to defend him are literally insane.

Every single time I get excited about a show and get involved in the fandom for it, it seems like it ends up going off a cliff. It kinda feels like I’m a curse. Lol.

But seriously, I don’t know if it’s just that getting involved in talking about the show and speculating and theorizing causes my expectations to get built up unrealistically? Or if it’s just that most shows tend to go downhill by their third or fourth season, and I just tend to take it harder when I’m involved in the fandom? Either way, it’s kind of depressing. I enjoy being in fandom and having people to talk to about the things I’m enjoying, but it’s not so fun when it all goes bad.

I really liked the new Interview with a Vampire TV show and I think it’s very good, but fucking hell I can’t stand how pretentious and obnoxious the fandom is.

The cynical part of me thinks the only reason Disney cast a Black actress to play Ariel was for the money they'll get from selling new merchandise. Because everyone loves a mermaid, and now they've got two versions of Ariel to sell!

I randomly came across some merch on Amazon, and out of curiosity, I searched for things for sale relating to other Disney live action remakes. The other princesses have some dolls, a costume here and there, maybe an Xmas ornament, but Ariel has EVERYTHING. Bedsheets, party decorations, backpacks, tie in novels, playsets, action figures, dolls, water bottles, story books, purses, jewelry, dresses, pajamas, and the list goes on.

So yeah. Now I think it was all about the $$$$$$$$.

I kind of wish Buffy's roommate Kathy had stayed on the show. She tried to steal Buffy's soul, but all the Scoobies have done something bad (and often much worse than that). Apart from that the worst she does is be annoying, and we're all guilty of that. Having a demon-y background would contribute something to the group, and maybe she'd get Anya better than the others do.
Plus, I don't share her taste in music, but I think being a huge fan of a particular type of music is way more interesting than just listening to the band your boyfriend is in/whatever the people around you listen to.

I'm not even interested in any live action adaption if Disney movies but even after everything, all I hear/see about the Snow White looks like an especially amazing car crash. Everything I've seen about it look just terrible.

And it's also one of the first times I think the casting for the main character sucks based on race/looks. The name Snow White has a meaning and is extremely linked to the looks of the main character. And Disney's/Hollywood's hatred for Asian people rears its ugly head again because they could have just cast an Asian person and both have had bipoc representation AND fit the damn character description. Of all the characters to cast a brown person for, Snow White is not the one, it's literally in the original name origin.

I wish people could be more honest about disliking Daniel Ricciardo instead of putting it all on the Nyck DeVries sacking and being the replacement mid season. You can hate him for his driving ability, all the media furor about him, or even for no particular good reason than a general dislike. That's all fine and dandy.

Blaming him for the Nyck DeVries sacking/taking his seat or saying that he doesn't deserve a seat cause he's taking it away from rookies is the stupidest argument. What was he supposed to do in that situation? Roll over and refuse to take that seat because it's not fair? It's so ridiculous.

I think sortedfood on youtube has done the best job I've seen of having someone core to the channel leave and slowly gauge who else they can add as a replacement. Kush is a great addition, and they've added him in as a frequent chef so smoothly I'm agog. In general, they seem more open about talking about their whole behind the scenes team which is really cool.

s!b: I'm glad James left, so that Kush, someone non-white, could take his place. I would never actually demand or ask for that and I liked James...but it's nice to see someone non-white have a main spot on the channel.

I love the Podcast Behind the Bastards. It's well researched, empathetic and fun.

But goddamn some of the co-hosts are dense as lead.

I obsessed over r/place in 2020 but this time? I was cold as a cucumber until the Blue Corner was properly established. I just check every few hours to drop a dark blue pixel. Everything else is just noise.

I love hearing the Wilhelm Scream randomly in media.

Because it's such a recognizable sound effect, it should probably be irritating, but it isn't.

I don't always notice it, but when I do, I feel inexplicably comforted and amused by it, especially if it's in a modern movie.

I miss when the UK's ITV network was all piecemeal and a bit amateurish in having separate franchises for every region. There was fun stuff, weird stuff, and all those friendly local in-vision continuity announcers made every TV show seem like an Event. I miss my region's unique voice. Damn you, Carlton, damn you to Slough (twinned with Hell)

I always stay very quiet in Star Trek discussions, when people are talking about their favorite Trek ships. Mine isn't Constitution or Galaxy or any of the biggies. Mine is the Oberth Class. I just like goofy weirdness of its design. Yeah, Imma gonna keep that one on the DL.

I love watching very early episodes of Time Team and seeing them treat this geophysics stuff with the same sort of awe that people would treat actual magic with. Given how quickly it has become a staple of archaeology, and almost eclipsing digging in some cases as the main tool, it is weird to go back and see them explaining it as something new, wondrous, and an almost alien tool.
