I think most people think of Henry VIII as a horrible person, not a horrible king. I think how much the turmoil of the Great Matter, ah, matters to you will influence that.

I think people probably feel like unless you're really into that time of history, they don't have enough information about the pre-Normandy kings except maybe Godwinson, and that there were barely any kings who really controlled the whole of England until William I, but lol at Aethelred losing to the Denmark.
