I did not much like that as a plot device. I suppose there was an amount of cleverness to it, but it seemed a contrived way to introduce yet another moral dilemma and justify Miguel's aggression.

Overall, the film felt like it was trying to do too much at once. I quite enjoyed the first in the series; it had a tight focus and allowed the story to develop. The sequel felt frenetic in the negative way I associate with the "main" Marvel movies; it is unpleasant for my slower-paced brain.

In any case, I have not seen it used as a meme, but I can understand why it would annoy you, which is what I was getting at with all the rambling above.

I couldn’t remember her at all so had to look her up and this is from the Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, the 90s show, not the Adventures of Johnny Quest. I never saw it but it looks really good! In reading about the development of the show, Jessie was meant to be an eventual romantic interest given enough time and there are purposeful tension moments between them. UST is my drug of choice so I would have been right there with you shipping them!

A lot of writers think romance needs to keep moving and changing, and the only way they can come up with to change is to backslide. I think romance can be stable in the background when the actual focus is fighting aliens or whatever.

Ahahaha. You haven't watched one of those 70 episode shows then? I have, and IMO they're not worth it. Too much filler. If a cdrama is over 40 episodes long, I give it the side-eye.

I remember when I first watched The Untamed, it seemed so... chaotic? But compared to other cdramas and taking into consideration that it's a novel adaptation, it's actually relatively streamlined with fewer pacing issues than some series, IMO.

I think it's the neatest ending, but I don't think it qualifies as the "good" ending. Or rather, it's not /their/ good ending - it's the good ending foe the people around them, or who they'd otherwise end up killing.

I think their good ending involves isolation and codependency, which might not be generally considered a positive thing, but I think it would give them more happiness than they otherwise would have known.

It is very common for people to take the depiction of something as an endorsement of it. It's somewhat bizarre; in order to be sure that the writers condemn an awful thing, they all but need them to have a character break the fourth wall, look directly at the camera, and say, "just so you know, we believe that this is wrong."

I like it when it's up to me to gather the meaning of a text, and to conclude that something is wrong; I find it insulting when a narrative doesn't trust me to figure it out. But it is the case that quite a lot of people are insulted by the exact opposite approach. I struggled to understand it.
