See, this is why I'd actually be interested in disabling kudos's on a fanfic. I'd want to see if it would make a difference on the amount of comments I would get if prompted (and if not, readers could continue to lurk without consequences).

I'd feel sad I couldn't leave kudos, but it wouldn't make a difference in my commenting habits (or lack thereof).

I wonder if people would start leaving comments that were just "Kudos!" and I wonder if people who say comments are important would be bothered by that or if they genuinely just want to see the words in a comment box and any words will do.

I know I'd be happy with just a kudos - but I also don't speak for every writer ever, so who knows!

I would probably be way less likely to comment because presumably that means you're someone who gets judgey about whether feedback is "the right kind" and whoo would that set off my comment anxiety

Sure, and I would have zero shame about it too, but they're asking if it would make a difference in comment responses! So I am saying it would, but maybe not in the direction they think.
