I agree. These people are lazy and taking advantage of fandom culture. Leave comments on good fic or the fic goes away. Not that hard.

Nah. The only people being absurd are the ones going into a space where everyone else is doing what they want to do, and trying to invent unwanted social obligations. And then throwing hissy fits when their attempts are rejected or ignored.

Other people want to have fun when they're doing something for fun? Revolutionary, I know.

People can go into any library and read any book they want without being hounded to track down contact info for the author and accost them with their opinion of the book. Precious few of the people writing online would have had the option of getting their writing seen by others before the internet.

As a fan author, I do not need comments. As a fan reader, I refuse all attempts to coerce me into leaving them. Kindly stop pretending you speak for anyone but yourself, or have any clue about fan culture.
