(Anonymous) 2023-07-29 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)And tbh I don't really want to explain it in depth either, but off the top of my head, the two biggest controversies right now are Alex Tischer (who has now resigned from the board) being extremely flippant about Chinese volunteers' safety concerns and consistently disrespectful in dealing with Chinese volunteers, and the board sending an official conduct warning to a volunteer who hadn't really broken any rules in a serious way but had been extremely critical of the organization's methods of dealing with racism. But there's been a lot more stuff in recent months as well. It's been a lot of very real and legitimate problems with things the board and the org have done, and with how the organization looks after the well being of volunteers, and the organization's way of dealing with things in general.
