I'm willing to bet my car that some of the other commenters are deliberately misgendering Ezra Miller to express their disdain.

Or in this case, ignorance. I for one don't know who Ezra Miller is, except that they've done some bad stuff (??? I don't know what) or something and I wouldn't know what pronouns Miller prefers unless someone told me.

Meh. The last time I checked the wiki it still said "uses they/them but is also okay with he/him" and sure, that may have changed by now but I don't think I have to keep up with the preferred pronouns of a pedophilic violent groomer and abuser especially when the person in question was still okay with male pronouns not so long ago and only seems to really have doubled down on the queer stuff after noticing how it works wonders in shutting people up about the crap they pull.

Agreed with all of above.

Wouldn't rule out that being the intent, but I'm more concerned about its working the other way - associating politeness rules the LGBTQIA+ community supports with people who are unapologetically hitting on children.

I doubt it'll convince leftists that Miller's actually a wholesome person. But making middle-of-the-road types associate skeeviness with a highly visible they/them ... that's easier. Unfortunately.
