Re: Secrets you don't want to make...
(Anonymous) 2023-07-31 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)I'm glad "Bingate" happened.
It set a precedent relatively early in the show that no matter what happens, you have to present what you've made to the judges.
If there's nothing for them to evaluate, you face the consequences of your actions.
Sometimes I wonder what might have happened if Iian had kept it together and let the judges taste what was left of his Baked Alaska. That (black sesame seed iirc?) ice cream he made looked interesting and was probably delicious.
Even if it wasn't, at least there would have been something for them to taste and he might not have gotten kicked off. He just shouldn't have tossed the whole thing out.
It was upsetting, because I understood the anger and frustration he must have been feeling. He had worked hard on his bake, thought he'd been sabotaged, and had no time to fix it. I would have been furious, too.
But when Iain tossed the whole thing in the trash (as Sue was trying to talk him out of it), he erased any sympathy I had for him.
I think that if things hadn't gone down the way it did, when it did, he would have probably freaked out in Patisserie Week and binned something because he didn't like how it turned out.
