(Anonymous) 2023-08-06 01:06 am (UTC)(link)The problem is that fans will find a way to say anything that they dislike makes no sense, ie. is an example of Fridge Logic. They also frequently ignore genre conventions to do it in a way that shows less competence in worldbuilding and storytelling than whatever the author wrote. A common example is soft sci-fi being called out because something about fictional technology used in it is incompatible with real science. But the thing is, the writers know that. It's not supposed to be realistically scientific. It's Space Wizardry under another name, this is not meant to be a secret and no reader is clever for "discovering" this "Fridge Logic."
