For me, it’s seeing a furry tail with the fur completely stopping at the base. I don’t really WANT to say catgirls should have ass hair, but it looks grafted otherwise.

I feel exactly the opposite way.

Tails aren't sexy at all to me. Wings are, alien/elvish/etc. ears are, antenna are, but tails are a no. Maybe a furless tail would be? Fur just doesn't equate sexy for me, but then again body hair in general doesn't either.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-06 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Furless would be even worse. Like a giant rat's tail. All the vertebrae and skin. Ugh, yuck, yuck, yuck.

Honestly, that might kind of do it for me? But I’m into tentacle type things.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-06 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get why tails on people are supposed to be sexy. Have you seen rats' tails? All skin and bones. Ew.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-07 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
tbf, rats' tails are among the most hideous tails in existence. Most animals have far more attractive tails.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-08 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
As a rat owner, I object!!! A scaly tail can be loveable!

I have never had a thought on what I feel about tails before.

This is interesting. I too do not think that I like them, although perhaps it might be nice were a tail unusually long, and able to wrap all the way up another person. On the other hand, this might present difficulties in day-to-day life for the tailed person. Where would they put all that tail?

(Anonymous) 2023-08-06 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
How would they sit on chairs designed for tailless people, where do they get pants and underwear tailored for tails, what about how they wipe their damn ass? These are all questions that seldom get answers.

I would like to think if it is common for there to be tailed people, chairs would have designs that accommodated them (I don't think it would be too difficult. Just wouldn't have as many chairs with solid backs. Couches and easy chairs might be a problem, however), and many clothing stores would cater to them. As for wiping asses, perhaps they would be more likely to use bidets?

Hmm. I wonder if there would have to be legislation to ensure that tailed people have accommodation. On the other hand, this assumes the tailed people would be the minority. What if it were the tail-less people who were the minority? They would try to buy pants, but every pair would have a hole in the rear.

This is not a deal breaker for me, but then I find tails appealing on people so I am biased.

Thank you secret maker!

I love thin, twisty tails like Nightcrawler. They're just cute and expressive. But imagining a giant node at the base of the spine is a bummer. So I don't.

Re: Thank you secret maker!

(Anonymous) 2023-08-07 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Why would there be a giant node? It's just a continuation of the spine.

Re: Thank you secret maker!

(Anonymous) 2023-08-07 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. The spine. Which ends in our pelvis. So it either has to continue past our pelvis or split off. Either way that means a bunch of new bones and muscles to anchor everything. Especially if we're talking a flexible, expressive tail like I am. So not huge like a football but huge like a fist.

Just imagine this guy walking upright:

It's baffling to me that someone would not automatically know/picture it as an extension of the tail bone. I mean it's in the name!

I get too caught up in how clothes would fit, and if someone with a tail would sit differently, and could you sleep on your back? Would your tail get stuck under your body and wake you up when it pulls like I do if my hair gets too long?

Though to be fair, I get thinking about the realities or technicalities of any type of addition. It's very distracting and I generally can't enjoy the kink or fun of it.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-07 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
For me, thinking about the realities and technicalities is the fun! For clothes you could have the waistband cut in a V at the back but continued over the top so there's a little triangle for the tail to come out. You would sit the same way because you sit on your buttocks, and you could sleep on your back no problem, but I agree you could sleep on it and pull it like hair, but it might go numb and get pins and needles when you move it!

I can't think of where else they would be on a humanoid body. Picturing the tail situated right above the anus and squished between the buttcheeks makes me laugh.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-07 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Right? Like... how do people think tails on animals work?? They're literally just an extension of the spine.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-07 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
I find tails pretty sexy on otherwise human characters--especially long, cat-like tails. Honestly I'm just kind of into the whole "catboy" thing in general, or most other versions of "a human with animal ears and a furry animal tail (fur not optional)." I feel like this is a very common and not particularly spicy kink...no? Do other people think this one's weirder than I do?

And thinking about how it attaches doesn't make it less hot to me, I don't think. I mean, if anything, imagining the view the top has when they bend the bottom over just plays into the kink.

OTOH, if the tail is totally inert and has to be manually moved out of the way in order for fucking from behind to occur, then yeah, that's markedly less sexy, lol.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-07 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Doesn't seem like an especially spicy kink to me, but then, I watched anime as a kid. That seems to make for much more tail-acceptance than you find among non-fandom sorts. Although animation in general is pretty willing to do the anthropomorphic animal thing, to a greater or lesser extent, and they usually go for small-of-back tail placement.

Technically I think part of why that became a thing, within the cosplay/furry community, was because the first home-made tail tutorials that circulated used a belt to keep it attached to the body. It's rather trickier to figure out how to anchor something right above the crack of your ass, even if said thing is flexible enough to adust to the way humans sit. Which a lot of fake tails aren't!

(Anonymous) 2023-08-07 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. If I can deal with dragons having wings and arms without going "but the two pairs of shoulderblades are interfering with each other," and enjoy centaurs, without reacting to the 90% angle at the join of the human back and the horse back, I can deal with other people's ideas about tail placement. It's not like it would be easy to relocate cranial ear anatomy to the top of the head on a human, either.

Humans with wings would technically need a completely different kind of sternum and incredible muscles to match, to be able to work them, aside from the fact that their having wings would have to come at the expense of their having arms (same problem as the dragons above). None of this "would really work," but that's also not the point of imagining any of it.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-08 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Not if dragons and centaurs and winged humans are insects! That brings up a whole new set of problems!

(Anonymous) 2023-08-08 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't understand this secret. Where else would the tail attach on a humanoid besides the lower back? I can't imagine any other place for it to be. That's where a tail belongs!
