Most of the shows I enjoy involve people dealing with things that in the real world would at the very least leave them with PTSD, but in the show it’s just another Tuesday and they get on with their lives and the trauma is never addressed. A lot of fan fiction explores the aftermath of that trauma and how the characters deal with it, which is fine, but personally when it comes to fan fiction I really just want to read about the continuing adventures of my favorite characters (with maybe a bit of romance thrown in if there is a pair I ship). Even using filters and tags it gets exhausting combing through all the angst and darkness to find a plot driven story (especially since some authors tag for every little thing (i.e. “Character A/Character B-if you squint”). I realize this is petty, which is why it’s a secret.
