It's not obligatory to know anything about a creator in order to create fanworks about a fictional universe. Not everyone is on social media, and a lot of HP fans don't know the first thing about JKR, nor do they have any obligation to do so when all they're doing is smooshing Harry and Draco or whoever together in silly fanfic.

By the very definition of fair use, HP fanfic gives nothing whatsoever to the author and in 99% of cases don't ever mention her or her assholery. JKR gets zero profits, her TERFy nonsense gets zero platform, so renouncing all fanfic in some random fictional universe entirely removed from teh author demonstrably does nothing except make you feel better about your own moral superiority.

Let people enjoy their fictional universes in whatever disconnected-from-the-shitty-ass-real-world way they want to.

Not OP
You can create what you want, whatever. Just I am going to catalogue HP fan as either asshole or stupid, and I am not interested in both of those groups

(Anonymous) 2023-08-11 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. And I will likewise continue to catalogue "people who think 'stupid' is a valid reason to deride and dismiss others" under the 'asshole' category.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
And I'm going to catalogue you as an asshole and stupid, for putting a whole group of people into said category just for liking a fictional series. See how this works?

(Anonymous) 2023-08-12 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. I mean I see it and I don't respect your view so we can think anything we want about each other. You think I am stupid and I think you are. All is cool.

To be fair I wish more for both groups to shut up about JR but here we are

DA

"W-well I, the random internet anon, am going to have negative opinions about you, so there!"

People keep thinking this is some kind of gotcha that others care about for some reason idgi

(Anonymous) 2023-08-13 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
I know, right? Anon is posturing like they think so much of themselves, and their arbitrary moral judgments, that we're supposed to feel deprived because we apparently lost the opportunity to meet them.

And people are supposed to be favorably impressed by that. I don't even.

This works out great for me. Thanks for making it so effortless to never come in contact with you.

(Anonymous) 2023-08-13 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking, too.
