If you want a more supportive magic school fandom, pivot to Worst Witch instead. It is almost exact the same thing, how Jill Murphy didn't sue Rowling into oblivion for super obvious plagiarism I don't know, but a billion percent less toxic.

The concept of a wizard or witch school is older than that and no one has a monopoly on it.

Those books are boring as fuck, as are most things everyone recommends as alternatives to Harry Potter.

Truthfully I think for a lot of us older folks it is about the fandom more than the canon. The Harry Potter books are for children, we liked them when we were children, but we're not children anymore, so we're going to expand on the fandom rather than reread the children's books that inspired it. Asking us to read other children's books for the first time as adults... yeah, sorry, we missed that boat.

And what the anon above me said about schools for magic not being a unique sue-able concept. You sound very young yourself to think that, to be frank.

You seem well intentioned, but a lot of us don't want to buy a different book. We want the people who keep screaming about the immorality of a fairly tame children's story to learn to live with other people making choices that they disagree with.

I read Mein Kampf because I needed to come to grips with what previous generations were even thinking, and you seriously want to argue a fictional series about love and friendship ought to be treated like it's too dangerous to read? Too poisoned and likely to lead people to hate? Please.
