Or, third option: Youtube for example autoscans and demonetizes videos that mention certain words so certain channels (e.g. a channel discussing news and crime) do it on purpose to avoid being flagged by bots

TW for mention of rape/sexual assault

Eh. I mean, it's possible, but I watch a lot of true crime videos, and that's not what they do to avoid getting flagged for words like "rape", "sexual assault", etc. They either just blank it out entirely or go for a more vague euphemism. One that I've seen is calling it "abuse" when what they very clearly mean was "rape". I have never seen any video where the narrator pronounces it "rope" or "beck-sall asphalt" or whatever.

Channels dedicated to true crime do that because it comes up often enough for it to be a thing yeah. But channels about say movie reviews where they're discussing celebrity crimes that come up, or gaming where they're discussing sexual harassment in the workplace as one-off topics, I've seen pronounce the words badly on purpose

How do they pronounce them?

It's hard to describe in text, but I've heard like... assolt? and rape being extended to be a two-syllable sound? I remember being super confused by it then reading in the video descriptions that it's for algorithm reasons

Haha, wow, that's bizarre.

I've hear some YouTubers say "grape" to get around it.

Monetization or no, anyone who can't say a word shouldn't be discussing that subject imo. Or if you're SO concerned, find a way to censor without making a fucking joke of it. Drop the audio, use a bleep, state it outright in the beginning that the audio will be janky because youtube is stupid, but don't call it "grape"
