It's pretty common for long-running series authors to change the continuity a bit in different installments. You may not feel that her new writing is holding up, or enjoy the direction she is going. I can't speak for her overall wellbeing. However, jumping to concern for her health over a change in continuity seems a bit much. With several years between the books, it's unsurprising that many authors will not rigorously stick to the original storyline, since it's their world to play with in the first place.

What do you probably take too seriously?

I've lost count the number of times I've said someone in fandom was being toxic, only to be told something along the lines of "lulz you don't know toxic, doctor Who was worse". And that is not a good thing. Just cause you are not as toxic as the most toxic part or the most toxic thing doesn't mean it is okay to be toxic

Not related to Digimon per say but this secret got me wondering: honest question for anyone that might know, can male-bodied characters ever be described as 'futa' or is there a different term? It seems to be exclusively used with female-bodied characters but 'futa' is essentially a kind of fantastical hermaphroditism where a woman miraculously gains a penis for whatever reason, right? So a guy could just as well develop a vagina through the same porn narrative logic?

None. They start off good, because the fandom is pretty small and just likeminded people in small communities, but as they grow and get more popular the assholes start slipping in. The ones who demand a certain interpretation of things. The ones who make their politics the only yardstick to measure them against. The ones who want to make their own mark by pissing on older fans. All those assholes and more. You don't even need an outright troll to show up to ruin things. Popularity and growth mean the death of joy.

Excluding alpha/beta/omega fics as their own thing, I rarely see fic where a generally male-bodied character has both, but a generally male-bodied character can have a vagina. The usual tag is “cuntboy.”

CRPG fandoms are so much more entertaining now thanks to the success of the Pathfinder series, Disco Elysium, and Baldur's Gate 3. Sometimes going mainstream and allowing the 'filthy casuals' into the gates can in fact be good and healthy for a fandom.
