Dreams

Anyone have any notable dreams? I have had so many weird ones lately. I dreamed that I was stuck in high school, which isn't unusual, but the dream had me wake up and go back to sleep multiple times within the dream, and I thought four days had passed. That sucked. I dreamed that a fictional character snuck into my room at night and left me a balloon saying "you are loved". That was nice. I dreamed that my nonexistent roommate pranked me by making me think my bed was made of French fries. That was bizarre. I dreamed that Among Us impostors did 9/11. That, uh. Yeah. And all of this was just within the past week.

I'm pretty sure I have sleep apnea. My dreams are goddamn stupid, packed to the brim like a Bollywood movie on crack, except not cool and featuring cameos from random shit I haven't thought of in years, like maybe a 15-second scene from a sitcom I once watched as a teen. Real-life events from that week will often feature too in great detail.

I used to get a lot of work related dreams back when I was still in training. One time I woke up in the middle of one, couldn't see my till anywhere, panicked and tried to look for it under my pillow, before my brain caught up.

I had a dream recently where I was in a sleeper room on a train (except it was old timey dormitory style where there were rows of beds) and I was on my way to college. The train was about to get to my stop, so I started packing up all of my stuff from my area. At first I had barely anything, but each time I finished filling a backpack or a suitcase, more things would appear until I started wondering how in the world I had so much stuff in such a small space. I eventually woke up trying to pack away oversized books.

I had a weird one recently where I had to take a long-distance bus somewhere and I found out as I was boarding that I had a "standing ticket" which meant I didn't get a seat but had to go to an area in the back of the bus and stand the entire, like, 10 hour trip. In the context of the dreams I was stuck somewhere with no other way to get home and also I hadn't arranged for the ticket so I had no choice in the matter. I woke up before actually getting on the bus.

Not lately but it used to happen. Last notable dream had me beta-test a theme-park life-size replica of the Titanic that would simulate sinking so tourists would have to escape without getting trapped in flooded coridors and drown. (A few weeks ago, I guess it was related to the OceanGate submersible? Please don't let that actually get built in real life.)

Well, it would depend on which part of the fandom it was themed after. A hobbit-themed dinner would be farm-fresh, home-cooked things, whereas an orc-themed one would be lots of meat. For elves there would be wine, cheese, bread, lots of fresh things (and yes, there would be meat).

So you could pick and choose which theme you wanted.

Narnian food. In fact, many of the British post-war children's novels had food to die for. You could tell the effect of a dozen + years of rationing; it really shone through in the writing.

Fandom rant - maybe minor Good Omens S2 spoilers?

I am so, so, so goddamn sick of every time there's a potential asexual character in something, there are a bunch of people complaining about how they should be gay instead and you're homophobic if you want them to be asexual instead of gay.

There are gay characters in things! Not as many as there should be, sure. But they at least exist! You don't have to hear "oh, well, there was a gay character on this one show that ended three years ago" or "there's one in this obscure book where they're portrayed as a robot/alien/some non-human creature" and THAT'S ALL YOU GET like people who want asexual characters do.

Let alone if you want a romance between two asexual characters. Something that has literally NEVER happened on a TV show, EVER. I'm seeing it a lot with Good Omens fandom right now. The amount of people who insist on them having sex because "they're more human than supernatural at this point, so of course they'd be interested in human things like sex" because apparently asexual people aren't human, is just so...disheartening and dehumanizing and depressing. Not to mention the whole thing about how if you want them to be asexual and still in a relationship, it means you're homophobic because apparently only same-sex sex counts and if they're not fucking then the relationship is not gay/queer (setting aside for now the only 'genderless supernatural beings' aspect). There are those of us who are asexual and still want relationships with the same sex! But we're somehow homophobic for wanting to see characters/relationships like ourselves for once? It's so goddamn frustrating and anger-inducing.

Again, I get that there aren't enough gay characters and gay people want more representation. But asexual characters are almost non-existent, and an intentionally asexual relationship IS non-existent. It's literally NEVER happened to my knowledge...not where they're waiting for some reason, or one character had sexual trauma or something, but where they're just not having sex because they're asexual. That hasn't happened. Like yes, allo queer people don't get enough representation, but we get NOTHING.

I know this is all over the place and probably doesn't make sense but I'm just...so exhausted and sad about the whole thing.

I'm not really in the fandom, but I can't even be mad anymore. Gay exclusionists are pervasive and think everyone who isn't gay is straight. Making a character bi is homophobic because they could have been gay. Canonizing the asexuality of a character who's existed and been uninterested in any gender since before most people knew what asexuality was is homophobic, because a man with no interest in women was obviously meant to be gay coded because of course they just couldn't SHOW him being interested in men back then. They probably think that's what happened with Good Omens in fact, lmao

(just invented this name but betting my ass they'll be calling this moment some shit) For those of you who aren't in the know: this year the BBC made a documentary claiming that the now deceased head of one of Japans biggest music companies was a pedophile who abused employees and former idols from said company with ages spanning from mid 20s to mid 70s publicly admitted to having been victimized as kids. It's as bad as it sounds.

The monster was accused plenty of times since the 60s and nothing happened but this time things came crumbling down and last week the company admitted to the crimes. The media seems to be confused because they thought it was "business as usual, same old" and took the "let's pretend we didn't see anything so we can be on the company's good side" approach and it failed greatly, intl ones included.

Happy the company is going down with its POS heads if all goes well. The Japanese indie music scene is so rich it's a pity people are mourning it IMO :I good news should be celebrated as such. I do feel sad/confused about my feelings for those acts of theirs I was a fan of but there's so much more to celebrate. So this was a thinveiled secret but wondering if anyone else is following the civil war (just few minutes ago Gackt had to tweet "hey let's hate the company not the idols who were probably victims" and when Gackt has to be the sane voice in the room things aren't okay)
