It's weird because there's absolutely no practical difference between a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old. You don't magically gain the wisdom of the ages at midnight on your 18th birthday. You're going to be exactly the same person you were before in terms of maturity and overall mentality.

And now you have leftists arguing that you’re not sexually mature and fully able to consent until 25, at the same time right-wingers want to raise the voting age to 25.

Not to derail into politics, but it's darkly amusing to me that right wingers LOVE taxation without representation. Sure, ten year olds can work at meat packing plants and pay taxes, but god forbid they vote. You should be able to vote at 18, or when you start working, whichever comes first.
