What do you hate about where you live?

I live in a small city so shopping for stuff can be hard. I want some air plants but there isn't any place within two hours to buy some in person.

It’s probably only a small percentage of my town who are like that but they’re very vocal about it both on social media and in person. On the bright side, you’ll only run into them at the grocery store because they won’t shop or dine at any place that hasn’t been around at least 50 years.

The prejudice, the ignorance, the hate, a lot of the culture (the macho individual part especially), the government, the heat.

Texas sulks and if I could live somewhere else I would.

Everything is too expensive, especially rent.
Too many people into new age crap. I've been asked my damn zodiac sign on job interviews.

The housing is so fucking expensive. Rent is crazy competetive but also I just really long to own property and flat out cannot here. I have friends in other cities that are able to buy houses if they just go 30min outside the main city, but here I'd have to be willing to have a 2hr commute for anything to even be remotely affordable.

I know this isn't unique to my city, lots of place are going through this. Still it's depressing and frustrating.

I live in a large town without any public transportation and maybe 5% of the roads have sidewalks. I don't drive and walking on the uneven dirt along the roadside aggravates my disability. I hate feeling so isolated and I hate that the town refuses to do anything about the situation because they'd rather spend money on cops and corps.

Housing is too expensive. We are fortunate enough to own our current place, but it's really getting too small for our family. But everything bigger on the market is listed at around a mil, which, lolno (found a lovely 3br down the street from our current place that had just reduced the price by 100k. It's now 900k.) We could head out of the city, but there's magats out there. We'd rather stay cramped.

Passing cars full of bogans keep rolling their windows down and loudly informing me that I'm a fag :D

I'm moving to Melbourne early next year mostly for this reason, lol. I felt so much safer and freer there. In my city, people look at you like you're fucking insane if you so much as trip over or take a picture in public - in Melbourne, my aunty burst into song in the middle of the street and people looked delighted about it, lmao. The rental market is piss, but at this point I'd rather live in a tent in Melbourne than stay here much longer.

Its certainly getting more aggressive and with my country stripping away health care rights for trans people, I'm pretty much losing hope of being able to transition in the future.
If it wasn't for the fact that I'm currently jobless/without cash and the main carer for my family, I would fucking love to leave this country and be done with everyone here.

Practically everything. Small town with military connections, so hyper 'patriotic' unless you're talking about LGBTQ military members; liberal surrounded by ultra-conservatives and tRumpers, not a lot of choices for shopping, so am forced to do a lot of online shopping when I'd rather support local (but when 'local' is a horrible w-m....no)....

Just - really wanna be out of this place.

The cost of housing and the way the rent keeps going up. Also, winter gets very cold here, and I hate cleaning snow and ice off my car.

My city’s really grown and they keep building new houses, but all the houses are like, six to eight bedrooms and way too expensive for someone like me. They’re selling really well though. People buy them before they’re even built. Traffic’s gotten way worse over the years too. I used to be able to drive to the neighboring city in fifteen minutes. Now it takes thirty to forty minutes, depending on the traffic.

Too far from the main city. Buses are $9 both ways. If I mention to anyone how far away I live I absolutely don’t get the job. One main road in and out so we’re fucked if it floods or catches fire.

The sprawl. Our public transit is minimal and useless to me and our population is all spread out so it takes forever to get anywhere.

Mold grows everywhere and fast, and while people were great about masking all through COVID and even now, nobody covers their mouth when they cough or sneeze even if they aren't masked. It has a reputation for being a "safe" place to live just because the criminals aren't as loud and public about their acts.

Compared to some of the stuff on here, I really don't have anything to complain about. A better music scene would be nice, and a bookshop. Less crime.

Stupid potholes everywhere.

Repairs from recent flood damage making for lots of driving delays.

too little housing and what is available is either a shithole or out og budget by a huge margin.

so much dirt and ppl who dont care.

useless politicians who refuse to see that we cant take all refugees for all of europe unless they drastically change things on the housing market

Not enough bike tracks. Assholes drivers. Not enough parks. Highest stomach flu rates twice a year.

I still feel like it's taboo to discuss being traumatized by the violence that engulfed the city back in 2020. Not being able to honestly discuss those feelings with other city residents is a huge problem (IMO).
